第二回『音楽の時間』では、箏奏者・明日佳を迎え、箏とアナログシンセサイザー、アナログリズムマシンという、少し珍しい編成でのライブをお届けします。
「箏」という楽器の名前は知っていても、その音を間近で聴いたり、演奏を目にする機会はなかなかないかもしれません。今回は、そんな箏の魅力を改めてじっくり感じていただける内容になっています。
出演する明日佳さんは、僕の別プロジェクト「Hizuru」のメンバーでもあり、同ユニットのアルバムは海外で高い評価を受け、リリース後も再発やサンプリングなど、形を変えて広がり続けています。Jazztronikの作品にも参加しており、その表現力には毎回新たな刺激をもらっています。
僕自身、和楽器とアナログシンセサイザーの相性には大きな可能性を感じています。ピアノやバイオリンと合わせるよりも、音のなじみ方が自然で美しく、これまでのライブやレコーディングでもその手応えを実感してきました。
今回の会場は、目黒にある蟠龍寺。落ち着いた空間で、音の響きをゆっくり楽しんでいただけたらと思います。
静かな音や、和の響きが好きな方に。 意外な組み合わせから、思いがけない音に出会えるかもしれません。 この空間でしか生まれない音を、ぜひ体感しにいらしてください。
For the second session of Ongaku no Jikan (“Music Time”), I’ll be joined by koto player Asuka, performing in a unique setup that brings together the koto, analog synthesizers, and analog rhythm machines.
You may have heard of the koto by name, but live performances of the instrument are still quite rare. This performance is a chance to experience the unique charm of the koto.
Asuka is also a member of my other project, Hizuru, which brings together traditional Japanese instruments and jazz-rooted improvisation. Our album was well received overseas and has since been reissued and sampled in various forms. She has also contributed to several Jazztronik tracks, always bringing a fresh and inspiring energy to the music.
I see great potential in the combination of traditional Japanese instruments and analog synths. Their sounds blend more naturally and beautifully than when paired with Western classical instruments like piano or violin, and I’ve felt this again and again through my recordings and live performances.
This time, I’ll be performing at Banryuji Temple in Meguro—a calm, peaceful space where the music can unfold gently and without hurry.
In recent years, this kind of sound—inspired by zen, subtlety, and reflection—has been gaining attention from music lovers around the world. It offers a different path from anime or pop culture exports: something quieter, but just as deeply expressive.
Some of my music has been featured on the mindfulness app Calm for the past couple of years, and I’ve been fortunate to receive support from listeners in Europe and the U.S. who are looking for thoughtful, immersive musical experiences.
